About the Role :
We are seeking a detail-oriented Diamond Assorter to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for sorting, grading, and classifying diamonds based on their physical characteristics — including size, shape, colour, clarity, and cut. Your precision directly impacts the value, quality, and integrity of our inventory.
This is a role for someone with a sharp eye, steady hands, and the patience to work with precision at scale.
Key Responsibilities :
- Sort rough and/or polished diamonds by size, shape, colour, clarity, and cut
- Assess stones using industry-standard tools (loupe, tweezers, sieves, gauges, colour masters)
- Classify diamonds according to established grading parameters (e.g., 4Cs, Sieve sizes, D–Z colour scale)
- Identify inclusions, flaws, and irregularities under magnification
- Separate stones into consistent, saleable parcels
- Maintain accurate records of sorting decisions and inventory movement
- Ensure zero mix-ups between parcels, grades, or clients
- Coordinate with grading, buying, and sales teams
- Follow all security and confidentiality protocols
Required Skills & Qualifications :
- Diploma / Certification in Gemmology, Diamond Grading, or related field (e.g., GIA, IGI, HRD) — preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in diamond sorting, grading, or trading.
- Strong understanding of the 4Cs and diamond classification systems
- Excellent eyesight (with or without correction) and colour discrimination
- Manual dexterity and steady hands for handling small stones
- High attention to detail and consistency
- Ability to work long hours under magnification without loss of focus
- Integrity, discretion, and trustworthiness — essential in this trade
- Basic computer literacy for inventory records
Preferred / Nice to Have :
- Experience with both rough and polished diamonds
- Familiarity with sieve sizes, MM gauges, and colour master sets
- Knowledge of fancy shapes and fancy colours
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or trading house
- Willingness to undergo internal grading calibration
