System Engineer – Vehicle Diagnostics (EV)

We are looking for a System Engineer with 5+ years of experience in Electric vehicle development to support diagnostics development, remote diagnostics implementation and validation. Role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to define diagnostic strategies, develop fault handling concepts, and ensure robust vehicle diagnostics throughout the product development lifecycle.

Job Description

• Define and implement vehicle EE and Powertrain diagnostic concepts for EV applications.
• Develop Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), fault detection logic, fault reactions, and recovery strategies.
• Support requirements analysis, diagnostic specification development, and end-to-end requirements traceability.
• Collaborate with cross functional team to integrate diagnostic functions into vehicle systems.
• Define diagnostic requirements for vehicle subsystems including vehicle controller and diagnostic tool (VCI tool).
• Define HMI telltales, warning messages, derating actions, limp-home strategies, and driver notifications based on diagnostic fault severity.
• Define and validate mobile application notifications, alerts, and remote user information related to vehicle diagnostic events.
• Develop and validate diagnostic services, fault handling strategies, and service functions.
• Analyze CAN logs, diagnostic data, and vehicle faults to support issue resolution.
• Support remote diagnostics, telemetry analysis, and connected vehicle diagnostic solutions.

Required Skills

• Good understanding of automotive and EV diagnostic concepts.
• Good knowledge of overall vehicle control systems in xEVs and present market trends.
• Experience in DTC definition, fault detection, and fault reaction strategies.
• Experience in defining warning strategies, HMI telltales, fault reactions, derating concepts, and customer notifications.
• Understanding of mobile app notifications, telematics, connected vehicle diagnostics, and remote vehicle monitoring.
• Knowledge of UDS, OBD, and automotive diagnostic communication protocols.
• Understanding of EV systems such as VCU, BMS, MCU, Charging, and Thermal Management.
• Experience in diagnostics implementation, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of various types of in-vehicle communication protocols.
• Understanding of remote diagnostics, telematics, and connected vehicle technologies.
• Knowledge of OTA update concepts, software flashing, campaign management, and update validation.
• Understanding of cybersecurity considerations related to diagnostics and OTA updates.
• Good communication, analytical, critical thinking skills, supportive, highly motivated, positive attitude & good intent towards teamwork.

Qualification

B.E/ B.Tech or M.E/ M.Tech in Automotive, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or similar with 3+ years of experience in electric vehicle development.
